Includes coupling body, cover, seal, 2 shoes, shoe spring, roll pin, shaft pin and most importantly, the P/N 2996935 SAFETY CLIP. Chrysler Corp. Technical Service Bulletin D69-19-4 warns that if the steering column, steering coupler or steering gear are "disturbed for any reason", it is imperative that this clip be installed.
The factory found that the crimped-on steering coupler cover could come loose whenever the cover was removed and reinstalled in the field. This created an unsafe condition that allowed the seal to separate and grit and water to enter the coupler. This ingenious stainless steel corrects this problem so well that the seal and cover are held rigidly without moving even before seal cover tabs are crimped over.
Mopar did away with the one different spline gap after they figured out it was much easier to get the steering wheel lined up....All the spines on this coupler are exactly the same, with NO empty space in between one of them.
